Halal Baklava

- 1 package phyllo dough
- 2 cups finely chopped pistachios or walnuts
- 1 cup butter, melted (halal-certified)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Layer the Baklava
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
Layer phyllo sheets in the dish, brushing each layer with melted butter.
After 6 layers, add a layer of nuts. Repeat until all phyllo and nuts are used, finishing with phyllo on top.
Make the Syrup
Combine sugar, water, honey, and lemon juice in a saucepan. Simmer until slightly thickened.
Pour syrup over the hot baklava.
