Ingredients

For the Rice:

  • 2 cups cooked short-grain rice
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon salt

For the Fillings:

  • 4 sheets of roasted seaweed (gim)
  • 1 large carrot, julienned
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 3 eggs, beaten and cooked into a thin omelet, sliced
  • 1 cup halal beef or chicken, cooked and shredded
  • 1 cup pickled radish (halal-certified)

For Garnish:

  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

Season the Rice

  • While the rice is warm, mix it with sesame oil and salt. Let it cool to room temperature.

Prepare the Fillings

  • Sauté the carrots and cucumber until slightly softened. Set aside.
  • Cook the halal beef or chicken with soy sauce, garlic, and a touch of sugar.

Assemble the Kimbap

  • Place a sheet of seaweed on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread an even layer of rice, leaving a 1-inch border at the top.
  • Lay the fillings horizontally across the rice.
  • Roll the seaweed tightly, using the bamboo mat to secure the shape. Seal the edge with a bit of water.

Slice and Serve

  • Slice the roll into 1-inch pieces and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
