Ingredients

  • 500 grams of fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons of halal-certified unsalted butter (or olive oil for a vegan option)
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional garnish: slivered almonds or chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

Blanch the Green Beans:

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for 3–4 minutes until tender but still crisp. Drain the beans and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Garlic Butter:

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let it brown.

Sauté the Green Beans:

  • Add the blanched green beans to the skillet and toss them with the garlic butter. Cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the beans are heated through and lightly coated in butter.

Add Lemon Juice and Seasonings:

  • Drizzle the lemon juice over the green beans and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Toss well to combine.

Garnish and Serve:

  • Transfer the sautéed green beans to a serving dish. Garnish with slivered almonds for a nutty crunch or fresh parsley for an herbaceous finish. Serve warm.
